how to make the drums on band hero work?

i just bought band hero on ps2 and everything works except the drums. nothing happens when you tap the touch pads however it works when you use the arrows on the drum controller. does anyone know how to change this so the touchpads will work??

Okay, so I want to buy a djembe (African drum) and I'm not sure where to get one. I I live in Toronto / Scarborough and I want to buy one that is not too expensive though.
